Dave and Boyd went fishing one afternoon and had a blast of course. Boyd loves to do anything with his daddy. Especially outside. He loves to fish and hunt with his dad.

Montrose

We had the chance to go visit our friends the Halls' down on the Western Slope in Montrose a few weekends ago and had such a great time. We love going to see them. Kye is Daves' brother from another mother, they come from the same mold I swear! Yes, Kye is just as obsessed with hunting and all that may involve as much as Dave. So Tiff and I understand each other better than anyone else possibly could when it comes to our husbands obsessions. (Its nice to know I'm not alone)
Well while our husbands were out roaming the woods with firearms and fishing poles having some shooting therapy Tif and I took the kids to the lake for the day and they had a blast. They played in the lake, built sandcastles and little Emry ate plenty of dirt. All without one fight or meltdown. We loved going to see them and miss them tons!

A lot of updates!!

Well It has been a couple of months since I last posted and it's been really crazy around here. So it is my goal today to update all of our happenings. Just scroll down from here and you'll see all that has been going on. I wanted to keep up the dates so I would remember them for the future.

So to get started I just returned home about 2 weeks ago from an emergency trip to California. I got a call on Friday morning July 9th from my mom saying she was taking my dad to the ER with chest pain. So I was really worried of course. Then I got a call saying that he would stay overnight and have a stress test Saturday morning. Well on Friday night he had chest pain again so they drew some blood and his cardiac enzymes were elevated so the stress test was canceled and they decided to do an angiogram on Monday morning. So Saturday at 10 pm I flew out to see my family. My dad kept telling me he was fine but I needed to be there. So Monday morning came and they took him down to cath lab. After about an hour and a half my mom came back up and told my sister and I that my dad had to have open heart surgery with 5 vessel bypass grafts. I fell apart. All of us kids were there minus Dave and my kiddos. I can be strong when it comes to my kids and husband, but when it comes to my parents and siblings I have a very hard time. So Tuesday morning they took him in for his surgery. It was about 5 1/2 hours until they told us everything went well but they couldn't bypass one of the vessel's but that it would be ok. So we got to watch them wheel him by us back into the ICU and from then on we got to see him just for a couple minutes for that first night. That was very difficult to see. He came around though and was discharged from the hospital that Sunday morning. I flew home Saturday night and he's been doing great ever since. I am very grateful for my family and all they do for me and am so blessed to be part of such a close nit family.

Block Party

Well we live on a way fun block so the weekend after the 4th of July we had our annual block party. I have never even been to a block party before let alone have one on our block so it was a little bit intimidating at first but it was really fun. The fireman from the station on our block came over and sprayed everyone like mad. And let me just say I've never gotten so wet so fast in all my life. There is some serious force behind those hoses.

Aubrey getting taken away by one of the fireman.

This hose can spray something like up to 500 ft

The kids jumping from the water

The firemen let all the kids spray the hose and Aubrey doused Dave when it was her turn. It was histerical.

Boyd wanted nothing to do with getting sprayed so he stayed dry and far away from the hoses.

California Vacation

So of course the kids and I had to make a trip out to California to see my family and unfortunately Dave had to work so I took the kids and his little sister Holly and we jumped in the car and drove out. My sister actually flew out to drive with me so that was fun. We stayed for about 10 days and went to Huntington Beach, Lake Mojave, rode horses and hung out with family. Aubrey is getting so good at riding it's amazing to see her little body on a horse and how good she is. She almost got bucked off but she did awesome and just did what she was suppose to and hung on tight and was eager to gallop again and did fine. Her instructor was another story she was a wreck. I think she forgets that Aubrey is almost 8 even though she is still small and thinks of her as a 4 or 5 year old still. Anyway she did great and Holly got pretty good as well. Boyd rode with me a few times and let me tell you its been a long time since I rode and I was so sore for a few days it was just pathetic I only rode for maybe ten minutes at most.
I love going home and being with my family no matter how long or short my visit gets to be. Aubrey and Boyd live being with their meme and pepe too and I'm so lucky to have the family I have and be so close with all of them. It was crazy to think that just a week after this trip I had to fly back for my dad's heart surgery and thinking that these might be the last memories my kids would have of him destroyed me! Thankfully there will be many more to come.

Me and my neice Madison I love this girl she's so precious!!

Hunington Beach CA

While we were in California we went to the beach (of course) for a day. We always go to Huntington Beach so naturally that's where we went. It was a great day perfect weather and everyone had a great time. The kids tried to skim board as well as me, what a sight!! I almost biffed it more than once. Then they got to fly their kites with my mom and dad. We were going to have a bbq at the beach but decided to eat at The Old Spagetti Factory instead another tradition of ours. Yummy!

Aubrey riding

Aubrey has developed quite a talent for horseback riding. Whenever we go to California she rides every day she has time. She is getting pretty good so we're looking at some places here in Colorado for her to ride. She really wants to get into jumping so we found a place that we really like we're just waiting to hear from one other place before we make a decision. She looks so grown up on her horse it boggles my mind that she is so fearless of these animals. She has almost been bucked off more than once but she's held on and kept on riding. I'm very proud of her courage and ability to be so confident in herself.
